Course Detail: WELL-9248 - Sedative Hypnotic Pharmacology: Understanding Use Disorders and Treatment Considerations

During this three-hour live webinar, Peggi White will review concepts related to the pharmacology of sedative-hypnotics, including alcohol and prescription medications, detoxification and withdrawal, and treatment considerations. Whether you're a counselor, therapist, or registered nurse, this workshop will highlight what you should know about sedative-hypnotics. Peggi has over 30 years of experience pioneering the role of the nurse practitioner in Addiction Medicine and Addiction Psychiatry.

Objectives:
  • Examine the history of sedative-hypnotic usage and the development of modern sedative-hypnotics.
  • Discuss the pharmacology of sedative-hypnotics, including alcohol and prescription tranquilizers.
  • Examine the impact of sedative-hypnotics on various body systems.
  • Discuss typical withdrawal syndromes and detoxification strategies.
  • Review and discuss treatment options, including medication-assisted therapies.
