Course Detail: LLLI-8266 - Video Vignettes: Exploring the Midwest's French Heritage Corridor - Luncheon

Discover the fascinating French roots woven throughout the Midwest! Through engaging video introductions, visit historic French settlements, forts, museums, and cultural sites across the French Heritage Corridor-from Minnesota and Illinois to Indiana, Missouri, and Michigan. Along the way, explore places such as Starved Rock, Ste. Genevieve, Mackinac Island, and Fort St. Joseph. We'll also revisit ideas from the 2026 LLI course about celebrating, preserving, and sharing our own community's French heritage.

The videos in this course will provide overviews of the following French Heritage Corridor sites:
  • Grand Portage (Minnesota)
  • Chicago Maritime Museum
  • Isle a la Cache (Illinois)
  • Starved Rock State Park and Fort St. Louis (Illinois)
  • Ste. Genevieve (Missouri)
  • Fort Ouiatenon and the Feast of the Hunters Moon (Indiana)
  • Colonial Michilimackinac and Mackinaw Island (Michigan)
  • Fort St. Joseph (Michigan)
Class note: Because food must be ordered in advance, the registration deadline is April 8. No refunds can be issued after this date; however, you are welcome to send a substitute in your place. Lunch will be served at 11:30 am. The presentation will begin around noon.
