Course Detail: LECT-8819 - Barriers and Pathways to Belonging in Our Communities
This workshop is designed to foster an understanding of barriers and pathways to belonging in organizational and community settings. Participants will explore the concepts of power, identity, bias, and microaggressions, while engaging in activities such as small group discussions, role-playing scenarios, and introspective exercises. The training includes identifying the roots of discrimination, the impact of unconscious bias, and the importance of cultural humility. Attendees will also work on strategies to create more inclusive, respectful, and supportive environments by examining how to respond to microaggressions, how to hold others accountable, and how to build a culture based on dignity, belonging, respect, and justice. Participants will leave empowered to make a positive impact in their workplace and community.
Registration - 8:45 am - 9 am
Continuing education hours: 2.5 contact hours awarded upon successful completion to nurses, nursing home administrators, social workers, counselors, respiratory technicians, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
2.5 PDs awarded upon successful completion to teachers.
A significant portion of this workshop is being covered by a grant from the Illinois Community College Board, reducing the cost from $149 to just $10/person.
