Course Detail: WELL-9304 - Interpersonal Violence Series: Understanding and Responding to Stalking, Sexual and Domestic Violence in Our Community
Gain the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to stalking and sexual and domestic violence in personal and professional settings. Through interactive discussion and practical application, participants will explore the impact of trauma, cultural factors that contribute to interpersonal violence, and effective ways to support survivors. Learn how to respond to disclosures, challenge victim-blaming attitudes, promote accountability, and help create safer, more supportive communities.
Objectives:
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Define stalking, sexual violence, and domestic violence, and identify key dynamics, warning signs, and legal considerations associated with each.
- Recognize how victim blaming, cultural norms, and societal messages can contribute to and perpetuate interpersonal violence.
- Describe the short- and long-term impacts of sexual and domestic violence on survivors, families, organizations, and communities.
- Demonstrate effective strategies for responding to disclosures and providing trauma-informed support to survivors.
- Identify actions they can take individually and collectively to create environments that support survivors, reduce barriers to help-seeking, and promote accountability for harmful behavior.
