Course Detail: LLLI-7096 - Propaganda, Complicity, and Collaboration in the Holocaust Era
Americans in 2026 face a variety of day-to-day challenges, among them what to believe and how to respond. This course will explore the role of propaganda in the era of the Holocaust, and the moral compass of the individual. Join us as we investigate media literacy, and the power of internal motivations and external pressures on us all.
In the first session, participants will work with definitions and characteristics of propaganda, and analyze several examples of WWII-era propaganda as used in the United States and in Germany.
In the second session, participants will discuss roles (perpetrators, victims, bystanders, etc.) in which individuals found themselves during the era of the Holocaust. Participants will work with primary sources (texts, photographs) for discussion and analysis of the history.
This two session course will meet at the Kankakee County Museum in Kankakee, IL on Oct. 7 and 14 from 1-3 pm.
