Biography: Denise Porter is currently a coordinator for Fort Wayne Housing Authority's Resident Services Resource Center. As such, she is responsible on a daily basis to connect residents and others to the various programs or services in our community that can help low income people become more self- sufficient and wean off of governmental assistance programs. Over 25 years of experience in faith-based and community organizations, businesses, media and the Office of the Mayor of the City of Fort Wayne gives her a unique perspective to guide others know what works in our community. "Fort Wayne IS a great place to raise a family" Denise proudly says. "Regardless of income, it is large enough to have a variety of activities for persons of all ages, yet small enough that you can really get to know your representatives on the school board, or in government or in most non-profit organizations. We can be participants in our community instead of spectators."
Denise is extremely involved in the greater Fort Wayne Community. A member of the 2004 class of Leadership Fort Wayne, she has taught marketing workshops for Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center and Fort Wayne Women's Bureau. She was also on the Board of Directors for Three Rivers Festival, Invent Tomorrow, International Festival, United Way's Community Impact Team, and Board of Works for the City of Fort Wayne. She is also an active member and serves on leadership committees for Union Baptist Church.
