Micro Course Information: KNTH220 - Data-Informed Decision Making
After successfully completing this micro course, you'll be able to:
- - Use polling and study design basics to assess the level of confidence in the results and detect bias of studies
- - Analyze sampling distributions to determine how randomness affects the collection of the sample
- - Examine data numerically and graphically with a free online statistical software to inform your big picture understanding of decision making
- - Use statistics foundations to make an informed decision
Micro Course Outline:
Unit 1 - Develop a strong foundation of study design basics. By the end of this unit, you will be able to identify a target population, observational unit, and parameter under investigation; evaluate results of studies through knowledge of population samples; and determine the hypotheses and target population of research studies.
Unit 2 - Learn about the statistical tools of randomness and probability and how they can help you let the data - and not your bias or expectations - inform your decisions.
Unit 3 - Learn how to describe data both graphically and numerically so that you can discuss the "why" behind your decision-making.
Unit 4 - Learn how to execute the fundamentals of statistical testing and use foundations of statistics to make an informed decision.
