New research on the Science of Reading (SoR) is shaping how schools are approaching literacy education. Emphasis on explicit and systematic teaching methods is now a core aspect of teaching students to read. Through interactive sessions, quizzes, and research-driven exploration, this course empowers educators with practical strategies and tools tailored to enhance literacy instruction. From diving into teaching methodologies to crafting aids and activities, participants will develop their skills in designing, implementing, and evaluating effective instructional strategies.

This course includes an assignment workbook that helps you prepare to implement new strategies with students. It guides you in completing writing/research/reflection assignments, planning implementation in your classroom (you do not need to be currently teaching or working with students) and practicing techniques introduced in the course. The process is designed to help you learn as you work through these tasks. For example, you might prepare sample teaching materials.
