T&L 2900: Network Security Fundamentals (BSC)

In the Network Security Fundamentals course, students will gain an understanding of the fundamental tenants of network security and review the general concepts involved in maintaining a secure network computing environment. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to describe general network security concepts and implement basic network security configuration techniques. This online course begins the second Monday of each month.

This course focuses on learning the fundamentals of networking. Students will learn both the practical and conceptual skills that build the foundation for understanding basic networking. By the end of this course, students will be able to build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes.

The second course in the CCNA curriculum focuses on switching technologies and router operations that support small-to-medium business networks and includes wireless local area networks (WLANs) and security concepts. Students learn key switching and routing concepts.
