T&L 2900: LETRS Volume 2

The MN READ Act (enacted in July of 2023) requires districts and charter schools to provide teachers and instructional support staff who are responsible for teaching reading with training on evidence-based reading instruction. LETRS: Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (Lexia) is one of the approved curriculum for this professional development opportunity.

Throughout the 25/26 school year, teachers will be participating in this professional development opportunity. The entire opportunity will require 30 hours of time: 28.5 hours of in-session training with a Local LETRS Facilitator (the instructor of this course) and 1.5 hours spent, at the end of the experience, writing a reflective essay focusing on the following questions:
  1. What was your biggest takeaways from this volume?
  2. How will your literacy instruction change based on what you've learned?
  3. What challenges do you anticipate, and how will you address them?
LETRS is a training course developed by literacy experts and will be delivered with fidelity and integrity to participants throughout their year-long experience. All participants will be provided with required materials to successfully complete the program.
