Course Detail: PRESERVINGPAPER - Preserving Family Papers and Photographs

Do you have old letters or sentimental photographs tucked away at home that you want to preserve for the next generation? Unsure of the best way to care for and store these materials? While no document, letter or photograph can last forever, with proper storage and handling your beloved family treasures can last for decades. In this class students learn how to correctly handle, store and display their important documents to prevent damage and slow deterioration. Through practical advice about best practices, hands-on activities and lively discussion, students will leave the class with the knowledge and experience to ensure the long-term preservation of the important materials in their care. The class will be led by Melissa Ford, archivist at the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum. Please see the optional course materials list online.
