"The Moonstone" is usually regarded as the first full-length detective novel in the English language. Its complex plot focuses on a large Indian diamond that a young woman receives on her 18th birthday. After the diamond is stolen, turmoil and misunderstandings abound. Various efforts to identify the thief and recover the diamond are told in a masterly fashion. Rose Kohut, an obsessed reader and OLLI member, leads the class.
