Course Detail: ENGLAND - England after Elizabeth

Although each of the Tudor monarchs faced a major rebellion, it was their Stuart successors who experienced revolutionary challenges: a bloody civil war followed by the public execution of the king and abolition of the monarchy. After a series of failed experiments in government without a king, the Stuarts were restored and sent into exile in another revolution.Despite this chaos, England emerged from the 1600s as a major European power.
