Course Detail: 251VFLAG - 251V Michigan's Battle Flags and the Civil War - VIRTUAL

On July 4, 1866, Michigan Veterans of the Civil War reformed their regiments, marched through the streets of Detroit in a grand parade, and handed their treasured battle flags over to the care of the State of Michigan. These flags were then placed in the current state capitol building when it opened in 1879 and are now housed at the Michigan Historical Museum. Join Cambray Sampson, one of the curators of the Michigan Capitol Battle Flag Collection as she talks about the history of the flags and the movement to "Save the Flags" for future generations.
