Following a series of controversial decisions, ethics scandals and fraught confirmation battles, calls to reform the U.S. Supreme Court have reached a fever pitch. This class explores various proposed reforms of the U.S. Supreme Court, including enlarging the Court's size, establishing term limits for justices and requiring justices to adhere to a code of ethics, among others. Expect healthy discussion as we work through proposed reforms, evaluating their merits and legality, while also addressing the more fundamental question about the role of the Supreme Court in the American political system.
