Course Detail: WTPO001 - Certified Registered Pool Operator
This 11-hour course meets for two consecutive days. This course is designed for participants seeking a Utah Certified Registered Pool Operator license. Upon successful completion of the course examination, participants will earn a microcredential that satisfies the training requirements outlined in Utah State Code R392-302; however, this microcredential is not a license. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to identify and address pool operation issues, including contamination, filtration, disinfection, water balance, and heating or air conditioning systems, as well as calculate appropriate chemical amounts to correct water quality concerns.
Operators are strongly encouraged to attend the live course to achieve the best learning outcomes. The live Zoom webinar option is intended for operators who live outside the Wasatch Front and may have difficulty traveling. Webinar participants are expected to remain fully engaged throughout the entire course to support their understanding of the material and readiness for the exam.
In counties that require a pool operator license, the SLCC microcredential verifies completion of the training required by Utah State Code R392-302 and must be presented to the local health department when applying for licensure. Both the microcredential and the resulting license are valid for five years. Participants who do not pass the exam may attend one future course at no additional cost and retake the exam.
