Course Detail: WTSI300 - Advanced Solar Photovoltaic Systems
This 45-hour course meets weekly for 3 hours in-person or via live webinar and includes roughly 30 hours of online coursework over a 10-week period. Participants who complete this course will be able to model safe practices while working with Photovoltaic (PV) systems; integrate or adapt mechanical and electrical designs for residential and commercial systems; complete the installation of a model system and perform a system checkout, inspection, and troubleshoot any problems that may arise; analyze existing systems and determine appropriate battery- bank size, identify potential problems, and determine appropriate solutions; and create a presentation to include site survey data, components, pricing, and system design one-line diagrams. This course is the third of three courses in the Solar Installation Program. Upon successful completion of the Solar Installation Program, students may qualify for entry-level positions, including Solar Technician, Solar Systems Installer, Solar Sales Representative, or Solar Maintenance Technician.
