Course Detail: WTSS200 - Basic Solar Photovoltaic Systems
This 45-hour course meets weekly for 3 hours in-person or via live webinar and includes roughly 30 hours of online coursework over a 10-week period. Participants who complete this course will be able to identify the basic OSHA standards concerning possible hazards frequently seen in Photovoltaic (PV) system installation; explain the general permit and inspection process, including local codes and regulations; demonstrate the different PV system sizing methodologies for existing and future loads; and create a sales presentation which includes proper site survey, system design, components, pricing, monitoring, and benefits to a potential customer. This course is the second of two courses in the SLCC Solar Sales Program, or the second of three courses in the Solar Installation Program. Upon successful completion of the Solar Sales Program, participants may qualify for entry-level positions, including Solar Sales Representative, Solar Site Assessor, Energy Consultant, Solar Consultant, or Solar Systems Designer. Upon successful completion of the Solar Installation Program, participants may qualify for additional entry-level positions, including Solar Technician, Solar Systems Installer, Solar Sales Representative, or Solar Maintenance Technician.
