Course Detail: WTCL041 - HERS & ERI Path to Energy Code Compliance - 3 hours

This 3-hour workshop meets once. Students who complete the workshop will be able to compare the International Energy Conservation Code to the Residential Building Code and the Utah-specific amendments to the Residential Energy Code; describe the Energy Rating Index (ERI) performance path; explain the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) scores and benefits to homebuilders; and identify the steps to perform a blower door test and duct blaster test. ?

The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) provides 3rd party verification of energy code compliance for builders through the Energy Rating Index (ERI) performance path. Unlike a simple energy audit or a weatherization assessment, a HERS rating is recognized by the residential mortgage industry. This online-only workshop introduces the essential points to HERS and ERI, as well as the market benefits of building HERS-rated homes.

This workshop meets DOPL requirements for:
  • Contractor Core Hours: 3
  • 1 hour of energy conservation continuing education.
