Course Detail: TPT - Trigger Point Therapy for the Neck, Head, Face and TMJ

This course defines and identifies trigger points and their ability to cause pain and symptoms, either locally or by referral. It reviews the muscle anatomy of the neck, head, face and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) with demonstration of trigger point therapy release to treat symptoms such as headaches, migraines, vertigo, tinnitus, earaches, and toothaches.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the reasons why massage therapists should treat the neck, head, face and temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
  • Review the muscles of the neck, head, face and temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
  • Define fascia and learn basic myofascial techniques
  • Understand trigger points, their location, associated symptoms and referral pain patterns
  • Observe a trigger point therapy treatment in the musculature of the neck, head, face and temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
