Advanced Tanker Training
The Advanced Tanker Training program will concentrate on teaching students how to safely operate a tanker. The program will take place over 2.5 weeks per student. Each student will have 5 hours of simulator and 60 hours behind the wheel of a truck. In order to enter the program, students must be a graduate of the Indian Hills CDL program or an equivalent program from another school, who is recommended by an instructor, or they must pass a 2-hour drive test demonstrating a basic skill level. Students must obtain the tank endorsement through the DOT prior to the start of class. Course scheduling is subject to instructor availability and will be done primarily based on company and student demand.

Aviation Pilot Private Tutoring
This course provides one-on-one flight instruction tutoring in IHCC aircraft. This tutoring time is supplemental to the flight instruction provided to IHCC students enrolled in an Aviation Professional Pilot flight course. The additional flight time is used to provide a student with an opportunity to demonstrate satisfactory performance in meeting minimum FAA airman certification standards. IHCC flight instructors have the discretion to allow tutoring in lieu of retaking the entire flight course depending on student performance.

CDL Class A
Class A CDL program concentrates on teaching students how to safely operate a combination Class A vehicle. Each student will have approximately 40 hours of classroom theory training (This includes some Simulator time), 10 hours of pre-post trip inspection training, 50 hours of skills (Range/Backing) training, and 80 hours behind-the-wheel (BTW) of a tractor-trailer on public road. DOT testing is included for those who complete training successfully. What you need to start class: CDL Permit, Certified Copy of your Motor Vehicle Report, DOT Physical https://iowadot.gov/#/services Federal DOT requires (Part 391.11.b.2) that students can read and speak in the English language sufficiently. As a result, a minimum Bronze score on NCRC is required.

CDL Class A Automatic Transmission
This course is designed for those seeking a Class A CDL for automatic transmission only. Training includes classroom theory training (this includes some Simulator time), pre-post trip inspection training, skills (Range/Backing) training, and behind-the-wheel (BTW) of a tractor-trailer on public road. DOT testing is included for those who complete training successfully. What you need to start class: CDL Permit, Certified Copy of your Motor Vehicle Report, DOT Physical, minimum Bronze score on NCRC testing. The course meets the ELDT requirements as outlined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), (49 CFR § 380.503).

CDL Class A ELDT Online
This Class A CDL training course is designed to meet all theory (knowledge) requirements listed in The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49 CFR Part 380, Special Training Requirements. It includes sections covering basic operation, safe operating procedures, advanced operating practices, vehicle systems and reporting malfunctions, and non-driving activities-all essential to obtaining your Class A driver's license. This CDL course was created in collaboration with an approved training provider listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry (TPR).

CDL Refresher
The CDL Refresher course offers the prospective Professional Driver a chance to touch-up or refresh their skills. The ideal candidate would be someone who has been away from the trucking industry for some time and wants to re enter the industry, but knows their skills are soft. We can help get Drivers back on the road by refreshing their skills in defensive driving, shifting, backing, turning technique and many other skills necessary for a safe driver.

Class B CDL Passenger Endorsement
There is a real need for Professional Drivers in the industry. If you take safety seriously, are looking for a career change and to earn some extra money, this might be the job for you! There are opportunities for both full and part-time drivers. CDL Passenger Endorsement is required for any commercial vehicle that transports 16 or more passengers, including the driver. This would include delivery vehicles, motor coaches, and public service motor vehicles. During our course, students will learn the theory, as well as the skills necessary to safely drive school and other passenger buses in many situations and environments. At the conclusion of the course, the DOT skills test will be administered onsite, and upon passing, students will be eligible to obtain a Class 'B' Commercial Driver's license, carrying the Passenger Endorsement. On the first day of class, students will be required to present a certified copy of their MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), Commercial Learner's Permit, school bus/passenger permits (depending on which endorsements they are looking to obtain), and a current DOT physical. Driver Education BTW Practicum
Earn your Driver Education Behind-the-Wheel authorization in our accelerated Driver Education Program. Any qualified individual 25 years or older may earn the Driver and Safety Education Behind-the-Wheel Endorsement by successfully completing this two-part course. The course consists of two online classes. This class is part two. This course is the Driver Education Behind-the-Wheel Practicum. This course will prepare you to become a behind the wheel instructor through observation of students and the opportunity to teach real students with an approved mentor instructor. You will learn how to develop driving routes and how to implement driving skills through the students learning process. 9 hours of observations Behind-the-Wheel and 6 hours of Student Teaching Behind-the-Wheel. This course does NOT qualify instructor candidate to be an endorsed driver's education classroom instructor. You must be 25 years old to be State of Iowa certified as a Behind the Wheel Instructor. This class must be taken concurrently with DED 3360, BTW Theory.

Driver Education BTW Theory
This course will help prepare you to become a behind-the-wheel instructor to help the novice teen driver to develop vehicle operational skills and good driving habits.The purpose of the Behind-the-Wheel Teaching and Learning Theory Course is to train individuals to conduct in-vehicle driver education. The course is designed to provide learning activities that focus on preparing the prospective driver instructor to conduct activities, which will develop vehicle operational skills and responsible driving behaviors for the novice teen driver. Emphasis is placed on laboratory organization and administration, maintaining a calm, safe learning environment, developing laboratory instructional modules, and the conduct of learning experiences. This class must be taken concurrently with BTW Practicum, DED 3370. Once you have registered, the instructor will contact you for a by phone orientation and get you started in the class.

Driver Education Classroom Educator Endorsement
This Classroom course will help prepare you to become a driver education classroom instructor and be able to teach from a driver education curriculum. The purpose of the Fundamental Concepts of Teaching and Learning Course is to train individuals to become professional teachers in driver education. The course is designed to provide instructor candidates with a fundamental understanding of the teaching and learning process, and the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to teach driver education. To be eligible to take this Classroom Endorsement course to earn the full 5-12 Driver and Safety Education in Iowa, you must be a licensed secondary education teacher in good standing with the Board of Educational Examiners and be a current BTW Instructor or enrolling in the BTW Theory & Practicum courses. If you do not have a 5-12 endorsement or are licensed only in elementary education, you will need to contact Greg Horstmann, BOEE @ greg.horstmann@iowa.gov. to find out what steps you need to take prior to enrolling. Once you have registered the instructor will contact you for a by phone orientation and get you started in the class.

Hazardous Materials Endorsement
This course will discuss and review the Federal knowledge requirements for trainees seeking a Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement to operate CMVs used in the transportation of hazardous materials as defined in § 383.5. Trainees seeking an H endorsement, as described in § 383.93(c)(4), must complete this curriculum with an 80% or higher in order to take the State administered knowledge test for the H endorsement.

Moped Safety
Gain the understanding and skills to become a safe and responsible moped driver in just six hours of classroom instruction. Classroom instruction includes operator and moped preparation, basic control skills, safe riding practices, how to handle complex situations, and moped care. This course does not include hands-on moped instruction. This course meets Iowa Department of Transportation requirements to obtain a moped license at 14. All students must be at least 13-1/2 years of age to take this class. Students should bring a sack lunch.

Motorcycle Safety BRC
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic RiderCourse (updated) is a learn-to-ride education and training safety program that consists of the MSF Basic 5-hour eCourse to address basic motorcycle knowledge, and approximately 11 hours of on-cycle, hands-on instruction. A course completion card may provide an insurance discount. Riders must be able to balance a bicycle to participate in the riding portion of the course, and a riding skills test must be passed for successful completion. Space is limited in each class, so pre-registration and pre-payment is required for this class. Each participant will be provided a unique log-in for the 5-hour eCourse portion of the class.

Redbird Advanced Aviation Training
Are you a pilot looking for an inexpensive option to maintain proficiency? What about a prospective student pilot who wants to get their hands on the flight controls without leaving the ground? If so, you are encouraged to consider the Redbird Advanced Aviation Training Device available at Indian Hills Community College. This is the same FAA approved, full-motion training tool used by our flight students enrolled in the Aviation Professional Pilot program, but is also made available to the public.
