The Jailbird Sings: Classical Composers Who Were Criminals with Scholar & Raconteur Al Jackson

Course Description: One might be surprised at some of the so-called "serious" composers who led lives which landed them in the slammer!Join scholar and raconteur Al Jackson for a brief trip to the hoosegow to visit the rogue's gallery of thieves, adulterers, and yes, even murderers who were famous not for crimes, but for compositions! Class will peruse the rap sheets of Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, and many others, along with examples of their music which often relate directly to their incarceration.

Note: No class on May 8; class will extend to June 5.
