Course Description:
In the Western world almost every aspect of our modern lives today bears the imprint of Ancient Greece. Politics, philosophy, literature, mathematics, medicine, architecture, the arts and sports have been strongly influenced by the traditions that were developed and perfected in ancient Greece. The history of the ancient Greeks is one of the most improbable success stories in all of world history.

Course Description:
This is a Hybrid class offering taking place in-person or virtually. Join Christine for a charming romp through the life and films of actor extraordinaire, Cary Grant. Class will learn about Cary Grant's life through film screenings and clips which display the various types of characters he portrayed during his fifty years in show business.

Course Description:
Take a heady dive into the world of Fairy Tales! Each class will start with a tale from the familiar European collections (Charles Perrault, the Brothers Grimm, and Hans Christian Andersen), but samples of similar tales from many other cultures will also be examined. Class will explore the psycho-social implications of the stories and view some recent comical and satirical adaptations.

The Jailbird Sings: Classical Composers Who Were Criminals with Conductor Al Jackson

Course Description:

One might be surprised at some of the so-called "serious" composers who led lives which landed them in the slammer! Join scholar and raconteur Al Jackson for a brief trip to the hoosegow to visit the rogue's gallery of thieves, adulterers, and yes, even murderers who were famous not for crimes, but for compositions!
