T&L 2900: WFPS Elementary New Teacher
This course is designed to support new teachers in building a strong foundation for a successful and sustainable teaching career. Through a series of practical and reflective sessions, participants will develop essential skills in classroom management, including relationship-building, CHAMPS strategies, and the establishment of clear rules and procedures. The course also focuses on effective communication with families, using proficiency scales, accurate grading, and productive conferencing. Educators will explore both academic (MTSS-A) and behavioral (MTSS-B) multi-tiered systems of support, with an emphasis on tier one instruction, data collection, and differentiation. Additional sessions address educator wellness by examining the phases of a teaching career, promoting work/life balance, and offering strategies for managing stress. New teachers will also gain a deeper understanding of how to support students with IEPs and ILPs, collaborate with support staff, and apply best practices for grading and instruction. The course concludes with guidance on maintaining structure during the end-of-year transition, reflecting on professional growth, and setting goals for continued development.
