Managing Wellness Programs (E)
Welcome to the University of Alabama's College of Continuing Studies' course, "Managing Corporate Wellness Programs." The CDC has reported that more than half of U.S. employers provide wellness programs and larger employers are likely to have complex wellness programs. Seventy-two percent of those offering a wellness program include screenings and health risk interventions to promote health lifestyles and reduce health risks. The main goals of wellness programs are to improve the health of employees, increase employee productivity and morale, reduce absenteeism and presenteeism, promote work life balance and well-being, and reduce business costs that are associated with health conditions. Many companies have reported positive effects of these programs on employee health and productivity, and on their health care costs. Presenteeism: The problem of employees coming to work despite illness, resulting in decreased productivity.
