Course Detail: WTPE503 - Adapted PE

This 30-hour course meets over an 8-week period for 3.5 hours per?week. As a result of this training, students will be able to design, implement, and evaluate adaptations for students with various disabilities so they can participate with their peers in activities, movement, and sports; collect, analyze, and evaluate data to determine the effectiveness of the program; communicate goals and objectives based on data with special education staff, parents, and students in an IEP setting; and identify technology and resources that enhance student learning and address student's individual needs.

This course is one of four designed for Utah K-12 educators seeking a PE Endorsement. This online course will introduce you to basic teaching practices for adapted PE instruction. Students will identify techniques to provide competitive and cooperative sport experiences for students with disabilities consistent with their needs, interests, and abilities. Attendees will demonstrate competency in understanding the IEP procedure protocol.
