Basic Electricity for the Power Industry
This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of electricity including electron theory, magnetism, electromagnetism, Ohms Law, series, parallel and multiwire circuits. Protection devices, DC/AC theory, capacitance, inductance, motor, transformer & generator theory. Voltage drop, wire sizing and basic grounding methodologies.

Energy Efficient Lighting
This course assesses quantity, quality and efficiency of lighting and controls. Physics of vision, color and optics and lighting power density along with HVAC interaction, retrofit opportunities, cost and energy saving analysis, lighting codes & regulations. Students complete group and individual projects based on practical field lighting evaluations. Lighting audit projects are presented in class.
