Course Detail: WTED840 - Instructional Practices that Promote Student Learning

This 30-hour course meets one day a week for 8 weeks. As a result of this training students will be able to explain the concept of inclusion and formulate a personal philosophy on inclusive education; describe the principles of effective collaboration between general education, parents, students, and special education/ELL teachers and aides; integrate Sheltered English Instruction strategies that optimize learning and involvement for English Language Learners; examine student behavior to identify effective teacher interventions that build positive teacher-student and student-student relationships to optimize learning; apply real world connection and authentic learning experiences in the classroom that encourage student ownership of learning; and describe student ownership and its application in learning, behavior, and assessment.
