Course Detail: WTGN180 - Genetic Genealogy

This 45-hour course meets online for 5.6 hours per week over an eight-week period. As a result of this course students will be able to explain the biological reasons and biological concepts for different types of genetic inheritance as they relate to interpretation of genetic evidence; discern when genetic evidence should be included as part of a reasonably exhaustive search; analyze and interpret Y-DNA, mitochondrial DNA, and autosomal DNA test results using a variety of methodologies and tools; and identify and resolve conflicting or corroborating evidence between DNA tests and traditional genealogy sources and explain using basic genetic genealogy concepts.
