Course Detail: WTPA100 - Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship

This 32-hr hybrid training meets 4 hours per week for 8 weeks. As a result of this training, participants will be able to demonstrate safe work practices, including OSHA 10 certification, safe use of common hand tools, and basic electrical tools to complete introductory trade tasks; apply construction math, measurement, and layout skills to complete basic job-related tasks; interpret basic construction and electrical drawings; demonstrate professional workplace behaviors, including communication, accountability, coachability, and teamwork; and develop a realistic plan for apprenticeship entry, including basic financial literacy.

Schedule: This is a in-person practical and lecture based course with online quizzes and homework assignments. Classes will be held 09/22/2026 to 11/12/2026, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-7pm on SLCC Redwood Campus in the Construction Trades (CT) Building basement room 095. During OSHA10 training on Tuesday 09/29, 10/06, 10/13, 10/20, and 10/27 class will be held in Construction Trades (CT)114.

** This is an introductory course that prepares participants for entry into an electrical career, and is intended for adult learners who are seeking to begin an apprenticeship as an electrician. This is an 8-week in-person practical and lecture based course with online quizzes and homework assignments; participants should plan to complete 32 hours in-person coursework and a an additional 15 hours of homework as part of this course. ** Classes will be held 09/22/2026 through 11/12/2026, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5-7pm on SLCC Redwood Campus in the Construction Trades (CT) Building basement room 095.** Participants are responsible to ensure the instructor(s) mark them as present and participating to get credit for attendance. ** Participants are encouraged to bring a scientific calculator with graphing capability for use in the course. Many smartphone calculators have this functionality built-in, or there are several apps available from the App Store or Play Store as needed. ** Tools and equipment will be available for use during class, but participants are required to bring thier own ANSI Rated Safety Glasses as part of the required PPE for the course. ** As part of this course participants will complete OSHA10 Safety Training. ** Attendance and participation is *mandatory*, and is essential for participants to be successful in the course.
