Course Detail: WTBA160 - Building Automation Systems Devices and Control Theory

This 38-hour course meets one day a week for 2.5 hours, over a 15-week period and covers the major types of peripheral components found in building automation systems (BAS) and how to properly select and apply them in the field as well as how these devices are used in the control process. Topics include standard input/output ( I/O) wiring; temperature, humidity, pressure, flow, and safety devices; actuators and dampers; control valves; power supply and monitoring devices; transducers; relays and contactors; motor controls; enclosures; control theory; control loop design; installation; commissioning; and tuning. 

This course is one of four in the Building Automation Systems Level 1 Microcredential program. Upon successful completion of the microcredential, participants may qualify for entry-level positions, including Installer, Maintenance Technician, Facilities Manager, Building Commissioning Agent, Building Operator, Energy Auditor, and Energy Manager.
