Course Detail: NBAC - National Building Arts Center

Discover the rich history of American architecture at the National Building Arts Center in Sauget, IL, a unique facility spread across 12.7 acres of the former Sterling Steel Casting Company site. The one and a half hour guided tour will take you through this expansive campus which features 13 historic buildings that house the largest collection of built environment artifacts in the United States. You will explore an impressive array of pieces from St. Louis, accumulated since 1973, along with significant contributions from the Anonymous Arts Recovery Society of New York City and artifacts from Chicago, Philadelphia, and other major cities. The tour is mostly outdoors and in buildings that may lack roofs and/or walls. There is a fair amount of walking involved that includes about 1,000 steps and uneven surfaces. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.
