Course Detail: SOLAR - Solar Electric Vehicles

This course will give students experience on the components and design of a solar powered electric vehicle, an eco-friendly form of alternate transportation. Students will learn how a solar vehicle is built and get hands-on experience in the maintenance of an actual vehicle. This includes working with a battery pack and management system for energy storage, with an interface to solar energy collecting arrays for charging, and an electronic motor drive system for propulsion. Students will also get mechanical experience working with the suspension, brakes, frame, and composite body of the vehicle. NOTE: This course is reserved for specific engineering students, registration will only be honored for those designated by the School of Engineering.
