Course Detail: SWKA - Implicit Bias Awareness and Dementia Care
Join us for a four-hour workshop offering 4 CEUs.
Two hours will focus on Implicit Bias Awareness training, including defining and reviewing various types of bias. Participants will examine real-world examples, build awareness of how implicit bias can impact the work we provide to clients and patients, and explore practical strategies to reduce bias in professional practice.
Specific learning objectives:
- Define and review components pertaining to cultural humanity
- Define factors both directly related to implicit bias and additional components
- Examples of ways to support and Build awareness of implicit bias
Two hours will focus on an Overview of Dementia. The training will provide a brief overview of the types of dementia as well as tools to recognize and identify symptoms, treatment recommendations, and resources to support individual's with dementia related concerns.
Specific learning objectives:
- Identify types and symptoms of dementia
- Learn communication and daily care techniques for use with dementia
- Recognize tools to manage safety for individuals with dementia
- Identify resources and supports for caregivers and care professionals
