Instructor: Garrett Schmidt

Biography: Garrett Schmidt, Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies, teaches jazz trumpet, jazz arranging, jazz combo, and directs the Concert Jazz Band at SIUE. Garrett is an active clinician and performer. In 2014, Garrett performed with the Broadway production of 'Cabaret' and played on both the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Today Show. Garrett holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music.

SIUE Summer Jazz Camp

The SIUE Summer Jazz Camp is available for students of all experience levels entering grades 8-12. Campers will learn performance and improvisation techniques from faculty members in the SIUE jazz department.
