Darryl Coan
Biography: Darryl Coan is Director of the SIUE World Music Ensemble. He completed his undergraduate education at Illinois State University (1985) and taught public school k-12 instrumental, choral, and general music. He completed his Master's and Doctoral (1992) degrees at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with emphases in General Music and Technology-Based Music Education, respectively. His secondary emphasis was instructional and curricular design. He is an active clinician and conductor and conducts Heritage Community Band, a municipal band with roots reaching back to 1863.

Music Technology and Composition Camp
Group and individual activities will be provided for students entering grades 6-12 with a variety of backgrounds and interests. Students will explore music by writing their own pieces on computer, experiment with MIDI instruments, and will create their own electronic hybrid instruments. No previous experience with computers or keyboards is necessary.
