Course Detail: DIDS - Democracy and Its Discontents: Intellectual Freedom and the Last Library
The people of the United States are grappling with a profound tension around the context for discovery and access to information and the base "instinct" for domination by regressive political interests seeking to separate libraries from their most critical role . In the face of this tyrannical impulse, it is the role of librarians and intellectual freedom advocates to insist upon the importance of access to information, free inquiry, varied perspectives in collections, and the privacy necessary to pursue inquiry unimpeded.
