Course Detail: IMAG - IMAGINE Summer Success Academy

The IMAGINE Summer Success Academy is a four-day summer camp designed to engage, recruit, and empower 30 underrepresented high school students aspiring for a career in nursing. Participants experience a comprehensive college immersion, including overnight stays in campus housing and access to various school amenities such as dining facilities, the Student Fitness Center, the Vadalabene Center, and more.

While the primary focus is introducing students to essential nursing skills, the academy goes beyond theory, providing hands-on experiences. Participants undergo CPR training and certification, gaining practical knowledge crucial for a nursing career. The School of Nursing's Simulated Learning Center is utilized for practical sessions, enabling students to apply their skills in a controlled and realistic environment. The academy integrates various additional learning activities to offer participants insightful experiences.

Parents are invited to actively participate on the opening day, fostering a connection between families and the university community. This involvement allows parents to engage with various departments like Financial Aid, Housing, and Parking, ensuring a smooth transition for their students into the college environment.

Transportation to and from the university is provided for students, enhancing accessibility for all qualified participants. Academy participants will receive a stipend to support their preparation for college. The academy not only provides valuable insights into nursing but also encourages interaction with other nursing students and esteemed faculty, creating a supportive community. The IMAGINE Summer Success Academy aims to inspire and prepare underrepresented high school students for a successful journey into the nursing field through education, practical training, and meaningful connections.
