Course Detail: SU02 - Impact Suicide Conversations and Resources for Change

This conference will provide an opportunity for community members and professionals to learn resources and methods for reducing the number of lives to suicide. Suicide remains the 10th leading cause of death in the United States and the number of lives lost to suicide has continued to increase in recent years. Suicide is now the second leading cause of death for teens and young adults. Research estimates that 135 people are affected for every one life lost to suicide; chances are, your life has been impacted by suicide. This conference will educate you on resources available locally and nationally for you to use to help people that you know. This presentation will bring together speakers who engage the audience emotionally through personal experience, educate through data-driven information, and teach best practices in breakout sessions designed for specific participants - business and labor, mental health, nursing and school professionals, community members, veterans, and students. A highlight of the conference will be a forum exploring resources available in our community and how to access these resources.
