Course Detail: PSY8 - Getting Kids to School: Understanding and Supporting School Attendance Psychology Conference
School absenteeism represents a complex and multifaceted challenge that has increased substantially following school disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This presentation will examine the complex issue of school absenteeism, focusing on the underlying medical, mental health, family, and school-related factors that frequently influence school attendance. Using a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework, attendees will learn how to effectively identify students' unique needs and implement evidence-based, proactive interventions-moving beyond a traditional "wait-to-fail" approach. This training will provide educators with practical strategies for assessment and targeted support to help address absenteeism and promote positive outcomes for all students.
