Introduction to Furniture Design

Learn to design and model your own piece of furniture through making and testing. Study human scale, proportion and composition. Gain a basic understanding of furniture formulation, construction and manufacturing. Working on a full-size model, experience all stages of the design process, including research, ideation, development, testing, refinement, prototyping, documentation and presentation. Topics include: functionality, form, structure and fabrication. Classes will be conducted through lectures, working sessions, critiques and reviews.
