Design Ideation and Research

Explore the methods, process, and culture used to develop creative ideas while solving problems facing individuals, groups, businesses and society at large-primarily through a structured approach to product innovation. You will learn approaches and frameworks to achieve these objectives through thought experiments, problem reframing, team collaboration, user centricity, iterative prototyping and beneficial failure. While doing so we will be examining these methods through the lens of human behavior, self-exploration, research, testing and storytelling. Commonly referred to by the umbrella term: design thinking, these techniques and approaches, which interrogate problems, reframe them productively and allow new ideas to surface are extremely valuable in their own right, as well as where Design sees its future as it progresses from craft to practice, and finally, to a true discipline.
