AutoCAD Advanced
This course is designed for working professionals and technical practitioners seeking to expand their AutoCAD expertise beyond core 2D drafting. Students will master advanced productivity tools - Importing/Exporting Data, Design Center, Attributes (Database Creation), Data Extraction (Charts and Tables), and External References into the full 3D modeling and solid modeling environment. Emphasis is placed on real-world workflows used in architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and construction industries. Upon completion, students will be able to produce complex 3D solid models, generate section views and documentation directly from 3D geometry, and manage professional-grade drawing sets with efficiency and precision.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Import, export, and manage external data by utilizing Design Center and External References (Xrefs) to efficiently integrate and coordinate multi-source drawing files within a professional project environment.
- Build and extract attribute-based databases by creating intelligent block attributes, compiling drawing data, and generating charts and tables through AutoCAD's Data Extraction tools to support project documentation and reporting needs.
- Construct and edit complex 3D solid models by applying solid modeling commands, Boolean operations, and advanced editing techniques to accurately represent components used in architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and construction workflows.
- Produce professional 3D documentation by generating section views, orthographic layouts, and annotated drawing sets derived directly from 3D geometry, meeting industry standards for precision and clarity.
Prerequisite: Introduction to AutoCAD or demonstrated proficiency in 2D drafting using AutoCAD.
