Interior designers use drawing to conceptualize and represent spatial ideas. Learn to use drawing and two-dimensional media to observe, document, and reimagine interior spaces. Through the development of a course project, create plans, sections, elevations, and three-dimensional drawings, as well as develop presentation skills through in-class assignments and group critiques.

Engage in a historical overview of developments in interior spatial planning, design, anddecoration that preceded and laid the foundation for the contemporary practice of interior design. You will consider the significant economic, cultural, political, social, and technological shifts that contributed to the development of this design field both as a historical and contemporary practice.

This course introduces students to Rhinoceros as 3D visualization tool for Interior Architectural design. The focus is to enable you to utilize tools and methods to enhance your ability to explore, experiment, and represent in 3D. Understand the basic format and layout of the program and know it's the limitations. Learn 3D modelling of interior spaces, setting up 3D views, and basic Rhino rendering visualization.

This studio course will take students through the basics of interior design and space planning while creating two to three projects that will be ready to be placed ina portfolio. This course will introduce some of the key concerns of the contemporary interior, such as sustainability and changing technologies. Prerequisites: XGID-105 and XGID-109 or permission of instructor.
