This interactive course will examine art history through a wide-range of historical and cultural frameworks. We will look at various ways artists have translated and transformed the impact of challenging circumstances into deeply meaningful works of art. Based loosely on concepts from Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way, we will develop multi-media rituals that will enhance our artistic processes. Art making techniques we will practice include: drawing, collage, mixed media sculpture, costume/prop creation, performance art/improvisation and video production.
