Tactility: Sculptural Inventions & Interventions

In this course, we will explore a variety of sculptural methods to create narrative and intention. Students will gather everyday materials, build armatures, make patterns, sew, carve, construct and experiment. Found objects and re-purposed materials hold meaning, tell their own stories and can add pleasurable tactility. Sculptural inventions and interventions may include figurative work, abstraction, costumery, props, altars, discrete or bold sculptural additions to public spaces and more. The class will include presentations of historical and contemporary sculptural and installation works, virtual studio visits with practicing artists and critiques.
