Professional Practices in Furniture Design

Build upon the competencies and projects developed in Introduction to Furniture Design. Develop and adopt the professional knowledge and skills needed to start a successful career in furniture design, a growing business in the region. Deepen your understanding of the environmental and societal impacts of the furniture design and manufacturing business.

A cross-cutting study of the furniture design profession and practice, while working on multifaceted portfolio presentations of projects created in Introduction to Furniture Design, you'll gain and develop a comprehensive professional skillset in verbal and visual presentation and documentation of furniture projects. Special emphasis will be placed on communicative hand drawing and drafting as well as ergonomics and sustainability. The course is structured around five individual assignments. Classes take the form of lectures, working sessions, critiques, and reviews. Prerequisite: Introduction to Furniture Design
