Biography: Joel M. Evans, M.D., a board-certified OB/GYN and international lecturer, is the Director of The Center for Functional Medicine in Stamford, CT. He also serves as the Director of Curriculum Development of the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and the Medical Director of KBMO Diagnostics, which specializes in identifying foods that cause inflammation. Dr. Evans was honored to speak at the United Nations on the topic of Prenatal Origins of Violence, and he serves as UN Representative and Chief Medical Advisor for OMAEP - World Organization of Prenatal Education Associations. His book on the holistic approach to pregnancy, The Whole Pregnancy Handbook, has received widespread critical acclaim and media attention. In addition, he is a member of the senior faculty of two of the most recognized and prestigious teaching institutions in integrative medicine: The Institute for Functional Medicine and the Center for Mind/Body Medicine. He continues to serve as the "external lead" of the IFM Advanced Practice Module in Hormone Health since its inception in 2011. Dr. Evans is a Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine and is recognized as the first physician inConnecticut to be Board Certified in both Integrative Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has a special interest in Breast Cancer, and as the Medical Director of the Keep-A-Breast Foundation, brings the latest information on cancer risk assessment and prevention to his patients. Dr. Evans serves as a peer reviewer for the journals Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine and Global Advances in Health and Medicine and is a member of the editorial advisory board of Holistic Primary Care. He is a former Director of two nationally known organizations focused on pregnancy, Childbirth Connection and the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health. Dr. Evans also helped create a clinical study at Columbia University Medical Center on the use of the herb black cohosh in breast cancer, which was presented at the 2001 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists and later published in their journal. In 2017 he authored a chapter on Nutrition and Sociogenomics.
Having pursued studies in spirituality, metaphysics, and personal transformation for many years, Dr. Evans has recently created a core curriculum designed to share ancient spiritual wisdom with others to help bring health and happiness into their lives.

Biography: Patrick Hanaway, M.D., is a board-certified family physician. He has spoken internationally on the subjects of nutrition, gastroenterology, endocrinology and systems (holistic) medicine in over 250 CME accredited clinician workshops.
Recent presentations include: the Institute of Medicine, Duke School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, the Cleveland Clinic, the Royal Society of Medicine, and multiple state Academies of Family Physicians. Through his work with Genova Diagnostics, Dr. Hanaway developed an expertise in the clinical application of nutritional biochemistry, with emphases on digestive disease, nutrition and wellness. He offers systems-medicine consultations for patients, physicians and corporations to improve overall health status.
Dr. Hanaway currently works as the Chief Medical Education Officer with the Institute for Functional Medicine - teaching around the world and training new faculty members. In 2014, Dr. Hanaway was selected as the first Medical Director of the Center for Functional Medicine @ Cleveland Clinic, which has grown from 2 à 11 clinicians in less than two years. Dr. Hanaway is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and is Past-President of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, on the Executive Committee of the recently formed American Board of Integrative Medicine, and he is on the Editorial Boards of multiple journals in integrative medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Molecular Biology and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Washington University School of Medicine.

Biography: Kristi Morlan-Hughes, ND, IFMCP, FMCHC has dedicated her professional path to the study and practice of root-cause medicine. After graduating from the National College of Natural Medicine, she launched her private practice in 1997 in Alexandria, MN. She attended her first training with the Institute for Functional Medicine in 1999, becoming certified in 2015, which further reinforced her skills and appreciation for applying root-cause medicine. Dr. Kristi's private practice, DocereVita, offers personalized Naturopathic and Functional Medicine health care consultations, telemedicine, and lifestyle coaching in the west Minneapolis area. Kristi provides patient and practitioner Self-care and Professional Development Workshops and online learning experiences in her Shaking Your Tree Experience program. Her DocereVita Nutraceutical line is also available to practitioners, patients, and the public online and through the DocereVita Natural Medicine Dispensary. Dr.Hughes served as a Director of Medical Education at IFM for a decade, where she was responsible for the development of medical education, nutrition-oriented, and clinical tools to support patient education. She supported the Collaboration partners working with IFM, cultivated practice implementation assets, and participated as an educator and facilitator both domestically and internationally. As a foundational developer, original Advisory Board Member, and2021 FMCA graduate, Dr. Kristi remains engaged in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy to this day. Biography: Robert Rountree, MD has been providing a unique combination of traditional family medicine, nutrition, medical herbology, and mind-body therapy in Boulder, Colorado, since 1983.
In addition to writing numerous book chapters and magazine articles, he is coauthor of five books on Integrative and Nutritional Medicine: The New Breastfeeding Diet Plan (McGraw-Hill, 2006), Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child, 2nd Edition (Avery Publishing, 2003), A Natural Guide to Pregnancy and Postpartum Health (Avery, 2002), Immunotics: A Revolutionary Way to Fight Infection, Beat Chronic Illness and Stay Well (Putnam, 2000), and A Parent's Guide to Medical Emergencies (Avery, 1997).
