Biography: After researching the effects of acupuncture for post-surgical patients during her doctorate, Dr. Nell Smircina, MBA, DAOM, L.Ac., Dipl.OM has built and scaled her practice with a focus on bridging gaps in care for post-surgical patients with acupuncture. Dr. Humphries-Mascoll alsoearned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College in2014. She is a licensed paramedic in the State of Texas and hasspecialty certifications including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS),Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Prehospital Trauma Life Support(PHTLS). She has also acquired her International Certificate in SportsChiropractic (ICSC). Dr. Humphries-Mascoll has served as a member of the UnitedStates Olympic and Paralympic Committee's (USOPC) National Governing Body(NGBC) and Community Ambassador for the USOPC's Council on Racial and SocialJustice. She is a certified Athlete Safety Coordinator (ASC) the US Center for SafeSport(USCSS) and serves on the USCSS Athlete's with Disabilities Advisory Group.Additionally, Dr. Humphries-Mascoll serves on the USCSS Climate SurveyTaskforce. Biography: Alane Lucht, Ph.D., DC, LADC, LPC recognized the connection between physical and mental health early in her career as a bodyworker. Throughout both her occupational and educational pursuits she has worked to integrate and understand how the physical body is affected by the mental body and vice versa. Her path began as a massage therapist in the early 1990'sfollowed by yoga, cranio-sacral therapy, and a doctoral degree in chiropractic in 2001. Over the course of the next 20 years she began to explore more in the field of psychological trauma and the physical manifestations when that goes unresolved. She has gained extensive training in both shock and complex trauma, helping people to heal from what has gone unhealed. In 2016 she began the academic pursuit of a master's degree in mental health followed by a PhD in psychology. During this time, she has taught courses in the field of massage therapy and mental health. Her journey continues with a deeper exploration into the mind-body connection through interpersonal neurobiology as well as complex trauma.

Biography: Dr Tuchscherer joined the faculty at Northwestern HealthSciences University in 1985. She hastaught courses in Histology, Pathology, Neuroscience, Neurodiagnosis andChiropractic Philosophy. She has beenthe Chair of the Foundational Sciences Department since 2002. Her PhD (Neuroscience, University ofMinnesota Medical School, 1987) dissertation explored various aspects ofperipheral pain transmission; and her current areas of interest are studyingthe neurological basis of manual therapies, the effects of subluxation oninflammation, and the science of applied kinesiology. Dr Tuchscherer earned her Doctor ofChiropractic degree (summa cum laude) from Northwestern College of Chiropracticin 1991. She has been the Professor of the Year four times at NWHSU. Dr. T, as she is known to her students, values the processof teaching and learning: "Teaching is one of my life's passions. I love the moments of understanding forstudents, when you see that "ah, ha!" look on their faces. That's my greatest reward. I am honored to have helped someone on theirway to becoming a healer." In addition to her work at Northwestern, Dr T has a privatepractice in Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Northeast Minneapolis. She loves fly-fishing, canoeing, and caringfor nature. She and her partner have 3 grandchildren and three dogs to match!

Biography: Dr. Christine Foss has a master's degree in Sports Medicine from Old Dominion University, a Doctorate in Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Health Sciences. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer, a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board, and an Internationally Certified Sports Chiropractor. She was named the 2020 American Chiropractic Association Sports Council Chiropractor of the Year and the 2023 Federation of International Sports Chiropractic Educator of the Year. Dr. Foss has a lot of experience treating and rehabilitating athletes as well as non-athletes. Co-owning and establishing the Advanced Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy Center and the Kid's Therapy Center has been a passion. She worked in the Sports Medicine Department at the University of Notre Dame and volunteered at the Olympic Training Camps multiple times at different locations. She worked at the World Games in Poland and Birmingham, as well as at the Bobsleigh World Championships. She traveled with TEAMUSATF as medical staff and has worked extensively with men's and women's gymnastics. She has worked alongside prominent surgeons in caring for and rehabilitating athletic injuries.
Dr. Foss is an international lecturer on the topics of sports injury, assessment, treatment, and kinetic chain unwinding. She has particular interest in difficult cases and patients who have had little success with conventional care. She is currently the director and lead instructor of the Northeast Chiropractic College "Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician" program, the Director of Education and research for Foot Levelers, and a Master Instructor for the Federation Internationale de Chiropractique du Sport.

Biography: Kristin Hieshetter is Doctor of Chiropractic, certified in Nutrition, and a low-level laser specialist. She graduated Magna Sum Laude from Central Michigan University, and while attending she supervised the medical microbiology laboratory and biotechnology laboratory for 2 years. Dr. Hieshetter is a published Research Scholar in Mammalian Physiology. Upon completion of her Bachelor of Science, she attended Chiropractic College at Palmer in Davenport, Iowa. Her highlighted achievements include the prestigious Vogt Leadership Society and Scholarship, the Extern Recognition Award from Palmer College Clinics, was a teaching assistant in neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis, physical diagnosis, and radiology. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Palmer College. She was a Keynote Speaker for The Seven Miracles of Chiropractic at Palmer Homecoming 2005. She has been post-doctorate educator since 2018. Her core expertise is in maximizing neurological function using chiropractic mediated facilitation, anti-inflammatory protocols, and low-level lasers. Dr. Hieshetter simultaneously owned and operated two clinics while living in Michigan. She was awarded the Newberry Michigan Chamber of Commerce Employer of the Year Award in March 2019. She served as UP Chiropractic Association President from 2015-2019. At present, she practices in Florence, South Carolina. In addition to clinical practice, she has created a podcast that is in the top 10% of global rankings for 2024. Dr. Hieshetter has given several corporate wellness classes, she was a Michigan Association of Chiropractors Work-Safe doctor, and has served as a continuing telehealth coach for clientele nationwide. Biography: I'm Jeremy Barthels, andsince the Fall Term of 2020, I have been a faculty member in the Basic Sciencesdepartment within the College of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health SciencesUniversity (NWHSU). Unfortunately, my abilityto practice within the chiropractic profession ended prematurely in 2011 aftersix years of clinical practice due to neuromuscular issues stemming fromlong-term complications of childhood cancer. Before joining the BasicSciences faculty at NWHSU, I worked for Rasmussen University (formerlyRasmussen College) for nearly 13 years. I started teaching in the HealthSciences department and eventually become a Department Chair and even worked asinterim Department Dean for Rasmussen. While employed atRasmussen, I was able to gain tremendous higher education experience in diverseareas. As a faculty member, I developed classroom instruction and managementskills, curriculum development knowledge by being a subject matter expert (SME)for over 15-course redevelopments, and experience with integrating technologyinto courses. As a Department Chair and Department Dean at Rasmussen, Ideveloped higher education management skills; including, facultytraining/management, student retention, course pass rates, resolving studentconcerns and complaints, project management, curriculum/programmatic assessmentand data collection, and implemented processes and curriculum changes toincrease diversity awareness and inclusion within the health sciencescurriculum. I also have a Master'sdegree in negotiation and conflict resolution, which has further improved myability to manage conflict and have it become a productive process thatharnesses growth, innovation, and confidence.

Biography: Reed C. Williams, M.D., M.B.S., R.M.S.K., is a physicalmedicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician specializing in nonoperativesports, musculoskeletal, and diagnostic and interventional ultrasound medicineat Summit Orthopedics. He takes his role as a patient advocate, educator, andphysician very seriously. He strongly believes that the art of medicine is justas important as the science behind it. Driven by his passion for anatomy andrecovery, as well as a growing understanding of the connection among movement,activity, physical health, and mental health, Dr. Williams discovered the fieldof PM&R and subsequently sports medicine. After earning a master's degree in biomedical science, Dr.Williams earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine atTemple University. He pursued residency training in PM&R, followed by afellowship in nonoperative sports medicine at Seattle's Swedish Medical Center.Before joining Summit, he served as an assistant clinical professor of PM&Rand orthopedics at Temple University and the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Williams has developed expertise in musculoskeletalultrasound within sports and musculoskeletal medicine. He uses this skill toadvance his diagnostic capability at the bedside and enhance his treatmentstrategies. He specializes in minimally invasive interventional proceduresguided by ultrasound visualization. An entrepreneur to boot, she runs a successful business called The Health Factor as a practice coach for healthcare professionals looking for guidance and support. As an author and frequent radio guest and contributor to magazines, newsletters, and online journals she regularly shares insights, education and specific life and wellness tools with audiences from all over the world. When Dr. Besuden is not practicing, coaching or speaking, her passion is cycling. She is a 4-time Gold Medal National Champion in the Senior Nationals and 3-time Gold Medal Pan Am Masters Champion. Her dedication, motivation and drive shines through in everything she does both in practice and in her personal life.

Biography: Stacy N. Neal is a Doctor of Chiropractic and Founder of Resurgence Chiropractic Clinic, PLLC. She also works as a Chiropractic Clinician at Bloom Chiropractic Center, PA, in Burnsville, Minnesota, is the Adjunct Professor (*awaiting final contract) for Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique at Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) and proudly sits on the Executive Board of the Chiropractic Alumni Association at NWHSU as Treasurer. Dr. Stacy is a committed and motivated business owner and hardworking healthcare leader. She embraces the belief in optimizing health through chiropractic adjustments, good nutrition, exercise, stress management, and good body biomechanics. Her Chiropractic philosophy is one that is consistent with the most up to date evidence-based guidelines and includes treatment options such as referrals to other providers, patient education, active rehabilitation, spinal manipulation, as well as other manual therapies that are clinically indicated. Dr. Stacy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Metropolitan State University in Denver, CO, in 1995 and earned her Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology with an emphasis in forensics from the University of Colorado at Denver, in 2003. She worked briefly as a Denver Firefighter/EMT, a forensic autopsy technician, and a medicolegal death investigator in Colorado before becoming a Special Agent with the United States Federal Government. Unfortunately, she was injured on the job and medically retired after 11 years of federal service. She knew that she wanted to continue to help her community, but she first needed to recover from her injuries. Chiropractic care made that possible. Due to her own success with chiropractic treatments, she enrolled in the College of Chiropractic program at NWHSU in Bloomington, Minnesota, and graduated in April 2022. During her final year in graduate school, she interned for an Advanced Activator Proficiency Chiropractor, Kathleen A. Bloom, with Bloom Chiropractic Center, in Burnsville, Minnesota. Just prior to graduation, Dr. Kathy had asked Dr. Stacy to join her practice. Around the same time, 1800square feet opened next door to Bloom Chiropractic Center. A dream was forming. Dr. Stacy soon started her own practice directly adjacent to Bloom Chiropractic Center with Dr. Kathy as her trusted mentor. Splitting her time between the two clinics provides a unique experience for her patients who can receive different methods of therapeutic modalities at each clinic. Together, they operate as a Certified Activator Training Facility.

Biography: Chris Major, DC, DACBR, ATC, is an associate professor inthe department of diagnostic imaging at Northwestern Health SciencesUniversity (NWHSU). He teaches courses on spinalanatomy, congenital anomalies, trauma, and arthritis. He also practices radiology with theRadiological Consultation Services at NWHSU. Prior to attendingchiropractic school, Dr. Major graduated from the University of Wisconsin-EauClaire with a degree in Athletic Training, where he had the opportunity to workwith a wide variety of athletes, including an internship with the NFL's KansasCity Chiefs. He is a chiropractor with aspecial passion for radiology and teaching. He enjoys camping, cross-country skiing, and playing on a small hobbyfarm with his wife and 9-year-old daughter.

Biography: Dr. Rich received his DC degree from Northwestern College of Chiropractic and then completed a three-year fulltime imaging residency. After passing the board-certification examinations, he accepted a position as an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Sciences Department at Northwestern. While at Northwestern, he lectured extensively for the imaging and continuing education departments, provided imaging consultation for the campus based film interpretation service, and treated patients in the University Health Service. In 1999 he was honored as Northwestern's Teacher-of-the-Year. In 2003 Dr. Rich accepted a position at National University of Health Sciences as the Director of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. He was also Faculty Director for the Imaging Residency Program and Director of the National MRI Center. Dr. Rich re-joined the faculty of NWHSU in September 2005. He enjoys his time lecturing and spending time "in the dark" interpreting imaging studies. In his free time he spends time with his wife and nine children and serving in the local church.

Biography: Christopher Smoley is currently an assistant professor and chair of the Radiology Department at Northwestern Health Sciences University. He is a Minnesota native raised in Sartell,just outside of St. Cloud. He did most of hisundergraduate work at St. Cloud State University. He went on to earn his BS andDC degrees from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Chris wasaccepted into the diagnostic imaging residency at Parker University in Dallas,Tx; here he successfully completed his residency and board examinations earninghim his DACBR. After passing his board examinations he became faculty at Parkerfor one year. He was offered a position at D'Youville College in Buffalo,NY as an assistant professor of radiology. He wasthe chair of the assessment team, authored a CCE response for assessmentshortly after his arrival, and later a self-study. He was theaccreditation liaison and lead the program to a successful 8-year CCE accreditation of the chiropractic program. He also wrote and submitted a new curriculum to New YorkState and CCE, that was successfully accepted by both. While serving atD'Youville College he was the Examsoft Campus Administrator for all the programs and an active participant in the regional accreditation,assessment, and curriculum committees for both graduate and undergraduateprograms. He was awarded faculty of the year each year at D'Youville Collegeand Distinguished Educator of the Year at Parker University. Before leavingD'Youville College for a faculty position closer to home at Palmer College inDavenport, IA he was the Executive Director of the D'Youville Chiropractic Program. Since his time at D'Youville College he has been hired as an externalconsultant for program assessment and is a reviewer for Chiropractic and ManualTherapies, The Journal of Chiropractic Education, and Osmosis.org. He also readsMSK studies for diagnostic imaging facilities across Texas part-time.

Biography: Heidi L. Mendenhall, MS, DC, DACBR is a board-certified chiropractic radiologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at Northwestern Health Sciences University. During her undergraduate education in biology at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, she discovered a passion for anatomy and physiology. She completed the Doctor of Chiropractic program at Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2009. Biography: Demetry Assimakopoulos, DC, Sp.Hons BA, Dipl. CAPM, graduated from the Canadian MemorialChiropractic College in 2012. In 2014, he joined the interdisciplinarychronic pain management team at University Health Network (UHN) ComprehensiveIntegrated Pain Program at The Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. In thehospital setting, Demetry worked as part of the interdisciplinary team todiagnose and manage chronic pain. He also joined the Interdisciplinary Programat the Pain and Wellness Centre: an academic community interdisciplinary painmanagement setting in Vaughan ON. He has also been hosted by several provincialassociations across Canada to lecture on the topic of conservative andinter-disciplinary chronic pain management.
