Biography: Robert Abbott, M.D. is an integrative and lifestyle medicine physician who practices at his clinic Resilient Roots: Functional and Evolutionary Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia and with a team of clinicians at the Austin Center for Functional Medicine. He graduated from the University of Virginia (UVa.) School of Medicine and completed his family medicine internship at VCU-Shenandoah Valley in Front Royal, Virginia. In his practice, he focuses on delivering cost effective and personalized care with specializations in the treatment of cancer, autoimmune disease and GI disorders. He has authored peer-reviewed publications examining the efficacy of lifestyle and functional medicine therapies to treat chronic disease and is a community preceptor for students who desire clinical exposure to integrative and lifestyle medicine. In his free time, Dr. Abbott enjoys trail running, poetry and contemplative practices.
